Olympic Resistance Network Expects Thousands at Friday's Protest Rally
The LA Times has a story about the anti-Olympic protest on Friday.
"Take Back Our City" is being held outside the Vancouver Art Gallery at 3pm following a couple of days of anti-Olympic workshops. The event's been organised by a coalition of groups called the 2010 Welcoming Committee, who are angered by the environmental, economic, and social costs of the Vancouver Olympic Games.
Although emotions are running high, organisers are assuring that a festive, family atmosphere is planned with "free games, free speech, and free food."
There's a march to Vancouver's BC Place Stadium, just down the road from the Art Gallery, where the 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremony kicks off at 6pm. Take Back Our City organisers say they are expecting thousands to turn out.
Anti-capitalist and anti-colonial groups are planning on disrupting the games with actions throughout the olympics...
