Conservative Minority Government

So it's another term of Conservative rule for Canada. Votes for "Battleground Vancouver" are still being toted up, but the CBC have just officially announced that the Tories have won another minority government.

The pundits are calling it a failure for Stephen Harper - he did badly in Quebec in particular, although with 37% of the popular vote he comes back with a minority government. The timing of the election was fortunate for Harper: the G8 came up with their economic rescue package at the weekend and the stock markets have seen a record daily rise this week, which probably gave a boost to his "economic" message.
