126mph Wind Powered Vehicle Smashes World Record
A couple of days ago a British engineer, Richard Jenkins, smashed the wind-powered speed record in his Ecotricity Greenbird. The low-lying vehicle, with its towering solid fin instead of a sail, managed to get up to a speed of 126.1 mph (202.9 km/h) on the dry lake Ivanpah in Nevada. It was 10 mph faster than the previous record set by Bob Schumacher in the Iron Duck in March 1999 at the same location.
