Video: Election Night Victory For "Mayor Moonbeam"

While I generally try to maintain a professional equanimity in any of my blogging and vlogging, it's been quite difficult during this last Vancouver municipal election campaign given the low level of tactics that the NPA, incumbent party Vision's main opposition, has resorted to in its bid to win votes. This is the party that has given us exemplary local councillors Peter Ladner and Gordon Price in the past, but the NPA campaign this time around didn't shed much light on the talents of their latest crop of candidates.

The polls are open for another 10 minutes or so as I write, so we'll soon know the shape of the next Vancouver municipal government.

Hopefully the crisp, but sunny Winter's day brought out more voters than the dire 31% of voters in 2008.

Suzanne Anton's Moratorium on Bike Lanes

Election Night 2011 - A Party Called "Other"

Now that he has a majority, PM Harper suggested that we go to bed, but CBC's pundits are still trying to fathom the big changes in the Canadian political landscape.

B.C. Election Day Closing: Which Party's Greenest?

Advance voting for the British Columbia provincial elections starts in three days (Wednesday 6 May). General Election Day is on 12 May, 2009. There's also a referendum on changing to a fairer voting system the BC Single Transferable Vote or BC-STV (vote yes).

Conservative Minority Government

So it's another term of Conservative rule for Canada. Votes for "Battleground Vancouver" are still being toted up, but the CBC have just officially announced that the Tories have won another minority government.

Tactical Voting Site Focuses On Environment

I like the idea from a geek point of view of Vote For the Environment, which has been reportedly getting tons of hits lately. But this doesn't make sense for the party with the strongest environmental policies - the Green party - who really need to attract as many votes as possible even if they don't win any seats.
