It's always interesting to see how Vancouver is perceived against other cities around the world. According to the latest survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit we're the best place on Earth to live (well, over and above 127 other cities that were surveyed).

I didn't see much of the 2010 Olympics Opening ceremony on Friday, apart from a few snatches caught on the web - punk fiddler Ashley Macissac showing his virtuosity, K.D. Laing's stirring rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, and lots of smiling, waving Olympians in their team uniforms.

Vancouver To Host Green Olympics At Least In One Sense of the Word

Looks like there wont be enough snow for some of the Olympic sports events at Cypress Mountain. So VANOC is going to have to truck and even fly snow in, with straw and wood being used as a base for freestyle skiing and snowboarding events being hosted there.

Feels Like Hibernation

It snowed all day today. The nights are drawing in. There is no government in Canada, it has been prorogued. The Canadian stockmarket shut down due to a technical problem.
